Cy Twombly at the Tate
‘To paint involves a certain crisis or at least a crucial moment of sensation or release’, painter’s own words quoted from Tate introduction to Twombly room. Twombly and Rauschenberg were close. Rauschenberg’s breakthrough ‘combine’ – ‘Bed’- in MoMA NYC collection (see: http://www.moma.org/collection/object.php?object_id=78712) was conceived during his stay with Twombly in Italy.
